Hello surfers,
See below, a nice letter we received from FIERCE NYC, thanking us for the donation we made with the money raised from the sale of our Tegan and Sara t-shirt. Have a gander below and get one for yourself!
Dear Tegan and Sara and friends at the Yellow Bird Project:
Leadership and Power: two words that aren’t often associated with homeless and low-income lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth of color. We live in a world that teaches young people who are oppressed by transphobia, racism, classism, homophobia and ageism, that we can’t be leaders with the power to create safe and just communities. But with your support FIERCE is fighting to change that!
Thanks to your thoughtful donation of $2,000.00 made on 04/13/2012, FIERCE is working to build the leadership and power of LGBTQ youth of color. What does that mean? It means that your gift goes directly to equipping FIERCE members with the resources they need to organize campaigns that keep the Christopher Street Piers safe, open, and accessible to queer youth (even in the face of rampant discriminatory policing and gentrification)! It also means that you’re helping to ensure that LGBTQ youth of color at FIERCE can develop their own leadership through internships and workshops that build the knowledge, skills, and pure fabulousness they need to organize for radical change!
None of this would be possible without your support. Thank you for your love and thoughtful gift! Please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, suggestions or concerns to us. We can be reached at dulani@fiercenyc.org & krystal@fiercenyc.org or 646-336-6789 x. 202 and x. 201 respectively.
Thank you again for your support! We look forward to updating you on our future success.
In Solidarity,
